I have been interested in art since I began drawing on the walls of my home at age 2. My first art teachers were my parents who drew stick figures, tanks and helicopters for me (mother and father respectively). Art, in various forms, runs in the family, so I’ve had many artistic influences over the years. The greatest of these was my older cousin Larry Miller II, who attended AAA in the mid 90’s. Other inspirations are our city Chicago, ancient and Old Testament history (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Canaan), Norman Rockwell, and the imagery of the Bible. My post school work interests are currently in freelancing (storyboards, illustration, design), a pre-production position at an ad agency or publishing company, and the possible pursuit of merchandise line based on some of my work.
My freelance experience is in portraits, private and commercial illustrations, logo illustration and design, product design and sculpting. I work in graphite, charcoal/chalk, watercolor, ink wash, pen, acrylic, sculpting clay, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Apart from art I am an involved member at The Moody Church. I play drums for the Salt (20’s & 30’s) Bible study class and for some of the church’s main services. I am a member of our volunteer security team. Since 2005 I’ve also gone to Poland to teach English for two weeks during the Summer with a group from Salt. I formerly tought martial arts at Judson Baptist Church twice a week with two of my younger brothers Chris and Derek. Lord willing, I’ll be able to begin teaching again in the future. I do love art, and am thankful for the gift that I’ve been given, but it is not what defines me. My relationship with Christ is what defines me, and as I continue to mature, I pray that will be more evident. Art, martial arts, music and whatever else I do I aim to do for the glory of God.
